Incus im Überblick

Incus ist ein System-Container- und VM-Manager — der community-getriebene Fork von LXD unter dem Dach der Linux Containers, für leichtgewichtige System-Container und virtuelle Maschinen. Das Projekt entwickelt aktiv mit regelmäßigen Releases (inkl. LTS-Linien).

Für Admins ist Incus eine Alternative zu LXD/klassischer Virtualisierung; Updates laufen über die Distribution oder die Projekt-Repos. Die LTS-Linie ist für Produktion die ruhigere Wahl. Beim Umstieg von LXD gibt es einen Migrationspfad. Der Incus-Daemon und die Fernzugriffs-API gehören abgesichert (TLS, Client-Zertifikate, Zugriffsbeschränkung) — wer Incus steuert, kontrolliert die Gäste. Vor größeren Updates die Instanz-Konfigurationen und Storage-Pools sichern und die Release-Hinweise auf Änderungen prüfen. Die eingesetzte Version und ihren Supportzeitraum im Blick behalten.
