Prometheus im Überblick

Prometheus ist das Metrik-Rückgrat cloud-nativer Umgebungen — Pull-basiert, mit PromQL und riesigem Exporter-Ökosystem. Das Projekt liefert alle sechs Wochen Minor-Releases plus Patches; seit der 3.x-Ära gilt weiterhin: Breaking Changes sind selten und werden lange angekündigt.

Für den Betrieb ist Prometheus selbst meist der unkomplizierteste Teil: Binary/Container tauschen, TSDB bleibt kompatibel, fertig. Die eigentliche Update-Landschaft sind die Satelliten — Alertmanager, Exporter, Pushgateway und die Scrape-Ziele — mit je eigenen Zyklen.

Sicherheitsrelevanz entsteht vor allem durch Exposition: UI und API gehören hinter Auth-Proxy, Admin-APIs bleiben deaktiviert. Nach Updates lohnt ein Blick auf deprecated Flags (Startlogs!) und auf Rule-Evaluierungszeiten, falls sich Query-Verhalten verschoben hat.
