BigBlueButton im Überblick
BigBluebutton (BBB) ist eine quelloffene Videokonferenz-Plattform mit Fokus auf Online-Lehre — verbreitet an Schulen und Hochschulen. Das Projekt veröffentlicht Versions-Releases; als aus dem Netz erreichbares Echtzeit-System mit vielen Komponenten verdient es sorgfältige Updates und Absicherung.
Für Admins ist BBB betriebstechnisch anspruchsvoll: Es bündelt viele Dienste (Medienserver, Web, Datenbanken) auf einer eng spezifizierten Basis (bestimmte Ubuntu-Version). Updates innerhalb einer Linie laufen über die mitgelieferten Skripte; Major-Sprünge sind oft eine Neuinstallation auf neuer Basis. Vor Updates ein Backup und ein Blick in die Release-Hinweise. BBB gehört hinter TLS mit gültigen Zertifikaten. Die enge Kopplung an eine bestimmte OS-Version bedeutet: den OS-Supportzeitraum mitdenken, um rechtzeitig auf eine unterstützte Basis zu wechseln.
