Nextcloud im Überblick
Nextcloud ist die Standardlösung für selbst gehostetes Filesharing und Kollaboration — beliebt überall dort, wo Daten das Haus nicht verlassen sollen. Das Projekt veröffentlicht mehrere Major-Versionen pro Jahr plus regelmäßige Wartungs-Releases je Zweig; ältere Zweige fallen zügig aus dem Support, weshalb man nicht zu weit zurückbleiben sollte.
Updates laufen über den eingebauten Updater oder occ auf der Kommandozeile — immer Zweig für Zweig, Major-Versionen dürfen nicht übersprungen werden. Vorher gehören App-Kompatibilität (nicht jede App ist am Release-Tag bereit), PHP- und Datenbank-Anforderungen sowie ein Backup geprüft.
Da Nextcloud-Instanzen naturgemäß aus dem Internet erreichbar sind, sind Sicherheits-Releases zeitkritisch. Der integrierte Sicherheits- und Setup-Check gibt nach jedem Update schnelle Rückmeldung, ob Konfiguration und Header noch stimmen.
