GitLab im Überblick
GitLab ist die Self-Hosted-DevOps-Plattform schlechthin — Code, CI/CD, Registry und mehr in einem System, das entsprechend viel Angriffsfläche bündelt. Der Takt ist strikt: monatliche Minor-Releases, dazu regelmäßige Patch-/Security-Releases, die man nicht liegen lässt — GitLab-Lücken werden erfahrungsgemäß schnell und automatisiert ausgenutzt.
Die goldene Betriebsregel: Upgrade-Pfad einhalten (Minors nicht überspringen, Zwischenstopps laut offizieller Upgrade-Path-Seite) und Hintergrund-Migrationen abwarten. Omnibus-Installationen machen das Einspielen selbst einfach; die Komplexität liegt im Pfad und in den Downtime-Fenstern großer Migrationen.
Vor jedem Update: Backup (gitlab-backup) plus Secrets-Dateien sichern. Wer öffentlich erreichbar ist, abonniert die Security-Release-Posts — patchletter meldet jede neue Version, kritische Patches erscheinen oft für drei Linien gleichzeitig.
