NetBox im Überblick

NetBox ist die verbreitete „Source of Truth" für Netzwerk- und Rechenzentrums-Dokumentation (DCIM/IPAM) — es modelliert Geräte, IP-Adressen, Verkabelung und mehr. NetBox Labs veröffentlicht regelmäßige Releases; als zentrale Dokumentation, an der oft Automatisierungen hängen, verdienen Updates Sorgfalt.

Für Admins läuft das Update über den mitgelieferten Upgrade-Prozess (Django-basiert, Datenbank-Migrationen beim Update), vorher ein Backup der PostgreSQL-Datenbank. Plugins und die per API angebundenen Automatisierungen sind die üblichen Stolpersteine bei Versionssprüngen — vorher Kompatibilität prüfen. NetBox gehört hinter Reverse-Proxy mit TLS und ins interne Netz. Größere Versionssprünge nicht überspringen und die Release Notes auf API- und Datenmodell-Änderungen lesen, damit Skripte weiter funktionieren.
