1Password at a glance

1Password is a widely used commercial password manager for individuals, teams and enterprises, with apps across every platform and browser. 1Password ships frequent client updates plus security fixes; as software guarding your credentials, keeping the apps current is an important security task.

For admins the apps generally auto-update, so they usually stay current with little effort — but on managed or locked-down machines confirm updates apply, and deploy through software distribution for fleets. 1Password's security model is strong (end-to-end encryption, the Secret Key design), so the main considerations are keeping clients current, enforcing strong account security (a strong account password and two-factor), and managing the team/enterprise policies (vault access, provisioning). The browser extensions update alongside — keep them current. After updates, verify that unlock and autofill work. Source it officially. Track client releases so security fixes reach every device; patchletter surfaces new 1Password versions.
