Frequently asked questions
What is patchletter?
A free update radar for sysadmins. You check off the tools in your environment and get an email the moment a vendor ships an update. Where there is data, the product page also shows the support/EOL cycle (endoflife.date) and the actively exploited vulnerabilities from the CISA KEV catalogue — free to read, no account; delivery by email is part of Pro. We check daily, and we run data-minimal and tracking-free on our own server in Nuremberg (EU).
What does patchletter cost?
Update emails are free — no limit on tools, no limit on emails. Security is Pro: the security label on a release, EOL warnings, and CVE/KEV and BSI advisories by email. What Pro costs is on the pricing page.
Where does the version data come from?
From official vendor APIs, release feeds, package sources (winget, Homebrew) and public release-notes pages — checked daily, source visible per product.
Do I have to install anything?
No. No agent, no scanner — you tell us what you run, we tell you when there are updates.
What happens to my email address?
We use it solely for the update emails. You confirm it in a double opt-in, we store it in our database in Nuremberg (EU), data-minimal and tracking-free. You can unsubscribe in one click and delete your account anytime.
My tool isn't in the catalog?
Suggest it via “Suggest a tool” — suggestions with many votes get added first, usually within a week.
