ASUS NUC BIOS at a glance
The NUC mini PCs originated at Intel; ASUS took over the product lines and now builds the systems and publishes their firmware. In IT environments the boxes serve as desktops, thin clients, digital signage players or small edge nodes. The BIOS/UEFI firmware governs boot behaviour, power options, Secure Boot, TPM integration and the bundled processor microcode.
Firmware is published per model in the support area of each NUC product page; there is no shared version line across the series. New builds appear irregularly and usually bundle processor microcode updates, fixes to device initialisation and adjustments for newer operating systems. Older generations inherited from Intel receive only occasional maintenance.
Before flashing, match the exact model and board designation — files from neighbouring models do not apply. Update paths include a Windows-based installer, the firmware boot menu, the UEFI shell and recovery from a dedicated file. Provide uninterrupted power, keep a recovery stick ready and back up BitLocker recovery keys, because firmware changes can alter TPM measurements. Custom BIOS settings are often reset and downgrades are frequently blocked.
