Azure Storage Explorer is a Microsoft desktop application for Windows, macOS and Linux that manages Azure storage accounts: blob containers, file shares, queues, tables, Data Lake Storage and managed disks. Admins use it to upload and download data, set permissions and shared access signatures and review several subscriptions side by side without the portal or the command line; local emulators can be attached as well.

Builds appear as point releases every few weeks to a few months through GitHub releases, with packages for Windows, macOS and Linux. Because the application is built on Electron and bundles AzCopy for transfers, fixes to those components ride along with the regular builds.

When updating, watch the sign-in path: accounts sometimes need to re-authenticate after a switch, and stored access signatures are time-limited anyway. In environments with a proxy or TLS interception, re-check the certificate configuration after every update. On jump hosts the application belongs in software deployment rather than in the built-in self-update, and a test transfer after the update confirms the bundled AzCopy integration still works.
