Barracuda Network Access Client at a glance
The Barracuda Network Access Client is the endpoint piece of Barracuda's network protection. It provides the VPN client for TINA and IPsec tunnels to a CloudGen Firewall and adds access control on top: a health agent checks the machine's state and compliance — antivirus, patch level, firewall status — and places it on the production network, in a quarantine segment, or denies access entirely.
Barracuda maintains the Windows client in branches with rolling maintenance builds; macOS and Linux get their own, usually leaner VPN clients on separate schedules. The per-branch release notes list what changed — typically tunnel drops, SAML sign-in, IPv6 behaviour and compatibility with newer Windows builds.
Before rolling out, look at the firewall side as well: client and firmware levels should match, and access-control policies need to exist on the access controller before stricter checks go live. A failed update can lock remote workers out of the network, so use a pilot ring and keep a documented rollback path.
