Cyberduck at a glance
Cyberduck is a popular open-source file-transfer client for Windows and macOS, supporting FTP, SFTP, WebDAV and many cloud storage backends. Cyberduck ships regular releases plus fixes; as a client that moves files to and from servers and clouds, keeping it current matters.
For admins the attention point is stored credentials: Cyberduck saves connection profiles and can store passwords (in the OS keychain), so rely on the keychain and prefer key-based SFTP over stored passwords. Keep it current for backend compatibility and security fixes to the embedded protocol components, and source it officially (the vendor build, or the Store edition). New versions add backend support and fixes. Prefer secure protocols (SFTP, HTTPS/WebDAV) over plain FTP. Export/bookmark backups help, but guard them. In managed environments, keep it in the software inventory and patch cycle. Patchletter surfaces new Cyberduck releases so component fixes land.
