Duplicati is a popular open-source backup client with encryption, deduplication and support for many cloud and remote storage backends, common for personal and small-office backups. Duplicati ships regular releases plus fixes; as the tool guarding your backups, keeping it current and correctly configured matters.

For admins Duplicati encrypts backups, so the passphrase is critical — lose it and the backups are unrecoverable; leak it and they're exposed. Keep Duplicati current for backend, reliability and security fixes, and source it officially. Its web-based UI should not be exposed to the internet — bind it locally or protect it. The real work is operational: schedule backups, apply retention, and — importantly — test restores regularly, since backup software must be proven by restoring. Store backups off the source system. After updating, verify that a backup runs and a test restore succeeds. Track releases for fixes; patchletter surfaces new Duplicati versions.
