Everything (from voidtools) is a beloved, extremely fast file-search utility for Windows that indexes filenames instantly — a fixture in many admin toolkits. It ships releases in an unhurried cadence; it's a lightweight tool rather than a heavy service.

For admins Everything is low-risk and efficient, but one feature deserves care: it can run as a service and expose an ETP/HTTP server for network or web search — leave those off unless you need them and secure them if you do, since an exposed index reveals your filenames. Keep it current and source it from the official site. New versions bring indexing and search improvements. Its NTFS indexing needs elevated rights but stays light on resources. In managed environments, keep it in the inventory and patch cycle; patchletter surfaces new Everything releases so fixes aren't missed.
