FolderSync Desktop at a glance

FolderSync Desktop is the desktop edition of Tacit Dynamics' synchronization software and mirrors local folders against cloud services, object storage and network shares. Admins use it to schedule recurring copy, backup and reconciliation jobs between workstations, servers and cloud locations instead of running them by hand; the vendor's Android edition covers mobile devices with the same concepts.

Builds are published through the vendor's GitHub releases with signed packages for Windows, macOS and Linux on both x86-64 and ARM, plus delta packages for the built-in updater. The cadence is regular: mostly small point builds carrying provider-API adjustments and bug fixes, with larger feature steps arriving less often.

Two things matter when updating. First, the software stores credentials and OAuth tokens for the connected accounts, so its configuration directory belongs in your backup and in your file-permission review. Second, after an update verify the service sign-ins and run a dry run before letting production jobs continue: two-way rules with delete propagation take effect on both sides immediately. Keep licence and trial periods in view, since this is commercial software.
