AVM FRITZ!Box 6660 Cable (FRITZ!OS) at a glance
The FRITZ!Box 6660 Cable is a router from AVM for connections on the cable network. It establishes the internet connection, supplies the Wi-Fi, connects telephones and manages the local network through FRITZ!OS. Administrators use it in small offices, branches and home offices where a cable connection is in use.
AVM provides the firmware on an open download server. If a cable device is supplied or managed by the network operator, the operator can control the firmware itself, so the availability of new versions can differ by provider. Security updates and feature updates can be installed through the automatic update function.
During an update the connection is briefly interrupted. If the device is managed by the network operator, the operator may restrict installing your own firmware. Settings should be backed up beforehand, and for remote locations the update belongs in a time window with a contact person on site.
