AVM FRITZ!Box 6860 5G (FRITZ!OS) at a glance
The FRITZ!Box 6860 5G is a router from AVM that establishes the internet connection over the mobile network. It distributes the connection by Wi-Fi and LAN, connects telephones and is managed through FRITZ!OS. Administrators use it where there is no fixed-line connection or where a mobile connection should serve as a second path, for example on construction sites, remote sites or as a fallback.
AVM publishes the firmware on an open download server. Besides the router part, the image also contains the software of the mobile module, so some versions change the behaviour of reception and network selection. There are hardware variants of the same name with their own firmware that are not interchangeable.
During an update the connection is briefly interrupted and the mobile module registers on the network again afterwards. Settings should be backed up beforehand. The hardware version has to be checked before an image is installed manually.
