AVM FRITZ!Box 7520 (FRITZ!OS) at a glance
The FRITZ!Box 7520 is a router from AVM for DSL connections. It establishes the connection to the internet, supplies the Wi-Fi, connects telephones and manages the local network through FRITZ!OS. Administrators use it in practices, law firms and small offices where a DSL connection should run with little supervision.
AVM publishes the firmware for each device on an open download server and announces changes in its update news. Feature updates and security fixes can be installed by the automatic update function. Older models receive security updates over their support period but no longer every feature update.
During an update the internet connection is briefly interrupted and calls end. A backup of the settings is advisable before updating. For remote locations the update should happen at a time when someone is reachable on site so that a device that does not come back up can be replaced quickly.
