Ivanti Environment Manager at a glance
Ivanti Environment Manager is a user environment management application for Windows and part of the User Workspace Manager suite, which grew out of the former AppSense DesktopNow family. Administrators use it to separate user profiles, personal settings, and policies from the operating system and applications. This lets them roll out uniform, personalized desktops on physical, virtual, and cloud-based workplaces and shorten logon times.
The product is maintained together with the other components of the suite and delivered as feature releases plus maintenance updates. Updates affect the agents on the endpoints and the management components, whose version levels have to match one another.
When updating, administrators should check the compatibility of agent and console, back up the configuration database, and roll out changes to a test group first. Because the software hooks deeply into logon and profile handling, a staged approach is advisable to catch logon problems early. Verifying the supported Windows versions is part of this as well.
