JumpServer at a glance

JumpServer is an open-source bastion host for privileged access management. Administrators use it to centralise access to servers, databases, Kubernetes clusters and web applications, grant permissions based on roles and record sessions for audits.

The project publishes releases on GitHub and maintains several release lines in parallel. Besides feature releases, maintenance releases appear regularly and often close security vulnerabilities – for a component that brokers privileged access, these should be applied promptly.

Back up the database and configuration before updating. The installer and container images update Core, Koko, Lion and the other components together; the release notes point out migration steps and changed requirements. When jumping across a major version, test in a staging environment first, because interfaces and default settings may change.
