Mealie at a glance
Mealie is a self-hosted recipe manager and meal planner with a Vue front-end and a REST API. Households and self-hosters use it to collect recipes, import them automatically from the web, plan meals for the week and turn them into shopping lists. Through the API, Mealie can also be connected to automations and other services on the home network.
The application runs as a container and is actively maintained; new editions appear as numbered releases in the official repository, bringing bug fixes as well as feature additions. Larger jumps can affect the data model.
Administrators should therefore keep an eye on new versions, back up the database before updating and check the release notes. These state whether a migration runs automatically, whether environment variables have changed and what to watch for when moving to a new major version.
