NETGEAR PR60X / PR460X at a glance
The PR60X and PR460X routers are intended for small and medium-sized businesses and branch offices. They offer two WAN connections with failover and load balancing, fast 10G and 2.5G ports, a firewall and VPN connections between sites and for staff working from home. The PR60X is a desktop or wall-mounted device, while the PR460X is built for rack mounting. Management is done through the web interface or centrally through the NETGEAR Insight cloud platform.
The vendor provides the firmware as a download in the support area, and the notes on the releases are in the knowledge base. The support pages render their content with JavaScript, and there is no machine-readable version overview.
When a gateway is updated, the internet connection is down for the duration of the restart, so the procedure belongs in a maintenance window. Beforehand, the configuration should be backed up and existing VPN tunnels documented. After the restart, firewall rules, failover and tunnels are worth checking.
