NoSpamProxy Outlook Add-In at a glance

The Outlook add-in belongs to the NoSpamProxy email security suite from Net at Work. It brings gateway features to the desktop: reporting suspicious messages, handling encryption, decryption and signatures, and sending large files through the Large Files module instead of as an attachment.

The classic add-in is distributed as an MSI package via group policy or software distribution; the newer web-based add-in ships with the server setup and is rolled out centrally to mailboxes. Client and server state are therefore tightly coupled: the add-in is maintained together with the server and documented in its release notes, which the vendor keeps as an overview page in its online documentation.

When updating, check compatibility with the deployed server line first, because older add-in builds do not know newer features and vice versa. Outlook must be closed for installation, so packages pushed by group policy usually take effect only after the workstation restarts. After the rollout, spot-check that the add-in still loads in Outlook and has not been disabled by add-in management or a policy.
