Passwork at a glance

Passwork stores team credentials in structured vaults. Administrators create folders per department, client or project, assign permissions through roles and groups, and can trace who accessed what. Alongside passwords it holds API keys, certificates and notes, while LDAP or Active Directory integration and SSO map accounts onto existing directory services. For organisations bound by data residency requirements, the self-hosted edition matters most because it runs entirely on infrastructure you control.

The vendor ships feature and maintenance releases at a moderate cadence and documents them in public release notes. Between major versions, smaller corrections address individual defects and security reports. If you run the self-hosted edition, the server application, the database and the distributed browser extensions are each updated separately.

Before updating, back up both the database and the encryption key, because without that key the vaults cannot be read. Also confirm the required PHP and database versions and check that your rolled-out browser extensions and mobile apps match, since they are tied closely to the server version.
