PicPick at a glance
PicPick is a Windows screen capture tool that combines screenshots, screen recording, an image editor with annotation features and small design helpers such as a colour picker, pixel ruler, magnifier and protractor. In IT operations it is mainly used for documentation: error screenshots for tickets, images for how-to guides and wikis, and redacted or blurred sections before sharing with third parties.
New versions appear several times a year and are maintained by the vendor NGWIN; the changelog on the vendor site lists added features and bug fixes. Alongside the installer there is a portable edition and a beta channel. Free use is limited to private users, so a licence is required in a business environment.
When updating, note that settings and keyboard shortcuts are stored differently depending on the installation type and must be carried over manually for the portable edition. Interface changes occasionally move menu entries, which makes existing screenshot guides outdated. For rollouts via a package manager, test on multi-monitor sessions with display scaling.
