Remmina at a glance
Remmina is a popular open-source remote-desktop client for Linux, supporting RDP, VNC, SSH and more — a staple for Linux admins connecting to mixed environments. Remmina ships regular releases, usually via the distribution or Flatpak, plus fixes to its protocol plugins.
For admins the attention point is stored credentials and the protocol plugins: Remmina can save many connection profiles and secrets, so protect them (use the keyring, and prefer key-based SSH over stored passwords) and keep the plugins current, since they embed the underlying protocol libraries. Keep Remmina updated through your package manager or Flatpak for those fixes. New versions bring protocol and UI improvements. Export or back up connection profiles. As a client rather than a service its exposure is limited, but the credentials it holds make it worth protecting. Patchletter surfaces new Remmina releases.
