Samsung Smart Switch at a glance
Samsung Smart Switch for PC is a desktop program for transferring and backing up data from mobile devices. Users copy contacts, messages, photos, calendars and settings from a previous phone to a Galaxy device, or store a full backup on the computer. Over a cable connection the tool can also install the device software of a connected Galaxy model.
The application is distributed through the vendor's download pages and the Microsoft Store. New builds appear without a fixed schedule and mainly add support for new devices and operating system levels and fix issues. No public, machine-readable version overview is maintained, so updates can hardly be tracked automatically in a reliable way.
When updating, note that the versions distributed via download and store can drift apart, and the current version is usually required for the full feature set. Before a transfer it is advisable to check drivers and device detection and to create a backup beforehand.
