SonicWall SonicOS at a glance
SonicOS is the operating system running on SonicWall firewalls such as the TZ, NSa and NSsp lines. It handles packet filtering, NAT, VPN, intrusion prevention, content filtering and management through the web interface or cloud management. Administrators use it to protect the perimeter of small and mid-sized sites and to provide remote access over IPsec and SSL VPN.
Firmware is published in separate branches per hardware generation. Maintenance and security releases appear irregularly, and security fixes are accompanied by advisories from the vendor's PSIRT.
