Sophos Central Mobile at a glance
Sophos Central Mobile is the cloud-managed unified endpoint and mobile device management service within the Sophos Central platform. Administrators use it to manage smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops across several operating systems from a single web console, distributing configurations, apps and security policies and separating corporate from private data on employee devices.
As a cloud service the management environment is operated and continuously updated by the vendor; new features and fixes arrive without a manual server installation. What remains relevant for administrators is keeping the management apps on the enrolled devices and the assigned device profiles current.
When updating, watch for compatibility with the operating system versions of the managed devices, as well as announced changes to interfaces, enrollment methods and policy options. Earlier locally installable variants are no longer maintained, so a move to cloud-based management should be planned.
