Splashtop On-Prem (Gateway & Streamer) at a glance
Splashtop On-Prem is used by sysadmins to provide remote access and remote support entirely within their own infrastructure, without relying on a cloud service. The core component is the Gateway, a locally hosted server that handles authentication, connection brokering and device management. On the target systems the Streamer runs as an agent enabling unattended or attended access.
Updates are released separately for the Gateway and the Streamer and are published as individual release announcements on the vendor's support portal. The Streamer is distributed per platform (Windows, macOS and others), so server and client version levels can diverge over time.
When updating, pay attention to compatibility between Gateway and Streamer versions and generally update the Gateway first. As this is security-relevant remote access software, applying updates promptly is advisable, along with a prior backup of the Gateway configuration and a maintenance window, since active sessions may be interrupted.
