Tabby at a glance

Tabby (formerly Terminus) is a popular open-source, cross-platform terminal and SSH client with a modern interface, a richer alternative to basic terminals. Tabby ships regular releases plus fixes; as a client that stores connection details and keys, keeping it current and its secrets protected matters.

For admins the attention point is stored credentials: Tabby can save SSH sessions, passwords and keys, so protect them with its vault/master password and prefer key-based authentication over stored passwords. Keep it current for fixes to the bundled components and for security, and source it officially. Being Electron-based, staying current also picks up upstream security fixes. New versions bring terminal and plugin improvements; plugins run with its privileges — vet them. Export/back up its configuration, but guard it, since it holds access to your systems. In managed environments, keep it in the software inventory and patch cycle. Patchletter surfaces new Tabby releases.
