UniFi Network is Ubiquiti's controller software for UniFi switches, access points and gateways, managed from a single interface — common in SMBs and prosumer setups. Ubiquiti ships regular controller releases plus device firmware; the two layers should stay compatible.

For admins the update task has two parts: the Network controller (self-hosted, on a Cloud Key, or on a UniFi OS console) and the firmware of the managed devices. Release notes state the minimum firmware per controller version. Take a controller backup before updating, keep the management interface on the internal network, and roll firmware in stages so a bad update doesn't take a site offline. After updates, verify adoption and that critical WLANs/VLANs still behave.
