UniFi OS (UDM/UCG) at a glance
UniFi OS is the platform on Ubiquiti's UniFi consoles (Dream Machine, Cloud Key, UNVR), hosting the Network, Protect and other applications. Ubiquiti ships UniFi OS updates plus updates to the hosted apps; both layers should stay current.
For admins UniFi OS bundles several services on one device, so updates touch the console firmware and the applications on it. Take a backup before larger updates, keep the console's management off the open internet, and — since Protect handles cameras and Network handles the LAN — apply security updates promptly. Roll updates in stages where you run multiple sites. After updating, verify camera streams, adoption and critical network policies. Track the UniFi OS version and its console's support status.
