Uptime Kuma is a self-hosted, open-source monitoring tool — a friendly status-and-uptime dashboard, popular in homelabs and small teams. The project develops actively with frequent releases, usually run via Docker.

For admins updating is simple (pull the new image, recreate the container; the data volume persists), but back up the data before larger jumps in case migrations run. Uptime Kuma holds monitor configs and sometimes notification credentials, so put it behind authentication and, where possible, not on the open internet. It monitors your services, so a stable, current instance is worth keeping — and note it complements, rather than replaces, deeper observability.
