Icinga 2 im Überblick

Icinga 2 ist der strukturierte Nagios-Erbe — Konfiguration als Code, verteilte Zonen, sauberes API-Design. Das Projekt liefert regelmäßige Releases für Core, Icinga Web und die Module; Sicherheitsfixes sind selten, aber wenn (API/Web), dann relevant, weil Monitoring-Systeme privilegierte Sicht auf alles haben.

Update-Praxis: Repositories des Herstellers nutzen, Core und Web dürfen kurzzeitig differieren, die Datenbank-Schemata (IDO bzw. Icinga DB) wollen bei Versionssprüngen migriert werden — Release Notes nennen die Reihenfolge. In verteilten Setups Master zuerst, dann Satelliten/Agents; die Cluster-Protokolle sind tolerant gegenüber Versions-Mix während des Rollouts.

Konfig-Validierung (icinga2 daemon -C) vor jedem Neustart ist Pflichtreflex. Wer noch auf klassischem IDO fährt: Die Zukunft heißt Icinga DB — Migrationsfenster einplanen, bevor Module nur noch dort erscheinen.
