n8n im Überblick
n8n ist eine quelloffene Workflow-Automatisierungsplattform aus Berlin — sie verbindet APIs und Dienste zu automatisierten Abläufen, oft selbst gehostet. Das Unternehmen entwickelt sehr aktiv mit häufigen Releases; als Automatisierungs-Hub, der viele Zugangsdaten zu angebundenen Diensten hält, ist die Absicherung besonders wichtig.
Für Admins läuft der Betrieb meist über Docker; Updates spielt man durch Image-Austausch ein, vorher ein Backup der Datenbank (mit den verschlüsselten Credentials und Workflows). Die hohe Release-Frequenz bringt schnelle Verbesserungen, gelegentlich aber Breaking Changes bei Nodes — die Release Notes lesen. n8n gehört hinter Reverse-Proxy mit Authentifizierung und ins abgesicherte Netz; wer n8n kompromittiert, erreicht alle angebundenen Systeme.
