n8n is a widely used open-source workflow-automation platform, connecting apps and APIs with a visual editor — a self-hostable alternative to hosted automation services. n8n ships frequent releases plus security fixes; as a system that holds credentials to many services and executes workflows, hardening and timely updates are essential.
