rclone im Überblick

rclone ist ein vielseitiges Kommandozeilen-Werkzeug, das Dateien zwischen lokalem Speicher und dutzenden Cloud-Diensten synchronisiert — quasi „rsync für die Cloud". Das Projekt veröffentlicht regelmäßige Releases mit neuen Backend-Anbindungen und Fixes.

Für Admins ist rclone in vielen Backup- und Sync-Skripten im Einsatz und altert dort gern unbemerkt. Updates sind meist unkritisch (Binary tauschen); neue Versionen bringen Fixes für einzelne Cloud-Backends und gelegentlich geändertes Verhalten bei Flags. Die Konfiguration (rclone.conf) enthält Zugangsdaten zu Cloud-Speichern — sie gehört geschützt (verschlüsselte Config, restriktive Dateirechte). Bei kritischen Sync-Jobs nach einem Update einen Testlauf einplanen, insbesondere wenn sich Backend-spezifische Optionen geändert haben.
