D-Link DGS-1250 Series at a glance
The DGS-1250 series are gigabit switches with smart-managed features and 10-gigabit uplinks, some with PoE. They are used as access switches in offices, branches and small server rooms and are managed through the web interface, the command line or SNMP. Typical tasks are VLAN segmentation, port security, link aggregation and traffic monitoring.
D-Link publishes the firmware as one shared package for the whole series. Besides regular releases there are hotfix images that fix a single problem and have their own release notes. MIB files are provided separately and should be matched against the device release in monitoring.
Back up the configuration before updating and check that the hardware revision of the device matches the package, because revisions A and B follow different firmware lines. The reboot briefly interrupts traffic, so schedule the change in a maintenance window and remember that on PoE devices the attached access points and phones restart as well.
