Fluent Bit at a glance

Fluent Bit is a widely used, lightweight open-source log and metrics processor and forwarder (a CNCF project), common as a log shipper in cloud-native and edge deployments. Fluent Bit ships frequent releases plus security fixes; as an agent deployed broadly with access to logs, keeping it current matters.

For admins Fluent Bit is usually rolled out across many hosts or as a Kubernetes DaemonSet, so update it through your deployment tooling for consistency. It reads logs (which can contain sensitive data) and ships them onward with configured credentials — protect the configuration and apply TLS to outputs. Keep it current for parser and security fixes. Because it's widely deployed, a vulnerability has broad reach, so patch promptly. After updating, verify that logs still flow to your backend and no parsers broke. Check plugin and output compatibility after larger jumps. It pairs with Fluentd and many backends. Patchletter surfaces new Fluent Bit releases so agent fixes land across the fleet.
