Graylog at a glance
Graylog is a widely used open-source log-management and SIEM platform, centralizing and analysing logs from across the estate. Graylog ships regular releases plus security fixes; as a system holding sensitive log data and often credentials, hardening and timely updates matter.
For admins updates depend on the backing OpenSearch/Elasticsearch and MongoDB versions staying compatible — check that matrix, back up first, and follow the documented upgrade path, since major jumps can change the data model. Graylog belongs on the internal network behind authentication and TLS; an exposed log platform is both a data-exposure risk and a tempting target. After upgrading, verify that inputs receive data, streams route, and dashboards and alerts work — a silently broken log pipeline hides problems. Content packs and integrations should be checked after larger changes. Track the version and its support window; patchletter surfaces new Graylog releases.
