Microsoft Teams is the central collaboration client in many organizations. Microsoft ships frequent client updates; the client largely updates itself, and in managed environments the MSIX/MSI packages are pushed through software distribution.

For admins little manual work is needed, but security updates should flow promptly since the client renders web content and handles files and media (screen share, camera, microphone). On terminal servers/VDI use the machine-wide (per-machine) install. Alongside the desktop client, peripheral pieces age — the Outlook add-in, older versions on personal devices — so enforce a minimum client version and clear guidance. The transition to the "new Teams" client changed the architecture; plan deployment accordingly.
