SNClient at a glance
SNClient is an open-source monitoring agent by ConSol that runs on Windows, Linux and macOS. It answers queries from monitoring systems such as Naemon, Icinga, Nagios or Checkmk via NRPE and a REST interface and understands NSClient++ commands, so existing checks keep working. It can also provide Prometheus exporters.
Releases are published on GitHub with installation packages for the supported platforms. Versions follow a simple scheme, and changes are listed in the repository changelog.
When updating many hosts, roll out in stages, for example through software distribution, a package repository or configuration management. Before the rollout, check whether defaults in the configuration file or check parameters have changed, so that no monitoring silently stops working.
