Teleport is a widely used open-source access platform providing secure, audited access to servers, Kubernetes, databases and applications with short-lived certificates. Teleport ships regular releases plus security fixes; as the gateway to critical infrastructure, hardening and prompt patching are essential.

For admins Teleport is a very high-value target — it brokers access to everything behind it — so keep it current, apply security releases immediately, and follow the hardening guidance. Its identity-based, certificate-based model (no shared secrets, full audit) is a security strength worth leaning on. Upgrades follow a documented, version-compatible path between the auth service, proxy and agents — read the notes, mind the supported version skew, and back up first. Keep the proxy exposed carefully (it's the entry point) and everything else on protected networks. After upgrading, verify that access, roles and audit logging work. Track the version and its support window; patchletter surfaces new Teleport releases so security fixes land.
