TP-Link EAP610 at a glance
The EAP610 is a ceiling-mount access point in the Omada range for offices, practices, hospitality venues and schools. It uses Wi-Fi 6, is powered over PoE and supports several SSIDs, VLAN assignment and roaming between multiple devices. It can be managed on its own through the web interface or centrally in an Omada controller.
TP-Link publishes the firmware without a login on the download page of Omada support, split by hardware version and region. The pages for older hardware versions carry their own, partly older releases; which firmware fits a device follows from the label on its type plate. The release notes describe new features, fixes and the minimum version for the update.
Anyone running many access points updates them best through the controller and in groups, so that not all radio cells restart at once. Short interruptions for clients should also be planned for. Beforehand it is worth backing up the configuration and checking compatibility with the controller version in use.
