TP-Link SG3428 at a glance
The SG3428 is a managed Layer 2+ switch in the Omada range with 24 gigabit ports and four SFP uplinks. It is used in offices, schools and small server rooms and offers VLANs, link aggregation, spanning tree, ACLs and static routing. In an Omada environment it can be managed together with routers and access points.
TP-Link publishes the firmware without a login on the download page of Omada support, split by hardware version. The hardware versions are maintained in parallel tracks whose version numbers overlap. The source reflects the page of the newest hardware version. The release notes list new features, fixes and the recommended controller version.
Before updating, the hardware version of the device must be known, because files for other versions do not fit. Even a switch at the edge of the network needs a restart, which briefly disconnects attached devices, so the update belongs in a maintenance window. Back up the configuration beforehand, and with controller-based management bring the controller to a compatible level first.
