XnView MP is a cross-platform image viewer and converter for Windows, macOS and Linux. Administrators and end users rely on it to display a very large range of image and graphics formats, browse collections, inspect metadata, and batch-convert, rename or watermark files. It runs locally as a lean desktop application without any server or cloud component.

The software is developed by XnSoft and distributed as closed-source freeware for private and educational use, while commercial deployment requires a license. Releases appear at irregular intervals and typically bundle broader format support, refreshed image-decoding libraries and bug fixes. The vendor maintains its own version file and a public change log from which the current build can be read. Downloads are offered as installers, portable archives and several Linux packages.

When updating, choose the matching architecture and package format, since the installer and portable builds are maintained separately. Because many of the bundled image libraries are security-relevant, applying new releases promptly is advisable, especially on systems that open untrusted image files. User settings and catalogs are usually preserved, but a quick check after each update remains sensible.
