Bitwarden im Überblick
Bitwarden ist ein quelloffener Passwortmanager — für Einzelpersonen und Teams, mit Cloud-Angebot und der Option auf Self-Hosting. Bitwarden, Inc. veröffentlicht häufige Updates für Clients, Browser-Erweiterungen und die Serverkomponenten; als Passwort-Tresor ist die Absicherung besonders kritisch.
Für Admins gibt es zwei Ebenen: die Clients (die sich meist selbst aktualisieren, in Unternehmen per Softwareverteilung) und, beim Self-Hosting, die Serverkomponenten. Wer selbst hostet (offizieller Server oder die schlanke Alternative Vaultwarden), spielt Updates durch Image-Austausch ein, sichert vorher das Datenverzeichnis und betreibt die Instanz zwingend hinter TLS, idealerweise nicht offen im Internet. Die Tresor-Daten sind Ende-zu-Ende-verschlüsselt; die Account-Absicherung (starkes Master-Passwort, zweiter Faktor) ist entscheidend.
