abas ERP at a glance
abas ERP is an ERP system for mid-sized manufacturing companies. It maps material and financial flows from purchasing and sales through planning and production to warehousing, service and accounting in a single application. Administrators look after it as a central system that many departments depend on, and they maintain clients, user permissions, interfaces and customer-specific adaptations. It can be run in the cloud or on premises in the company's own data centre.
The vendor provides new states as releases and upgrades. The accompanying documentation for each state lists what it contains. Technically, an ERP update is closer to a project than to a single patch.
When updating, preparation and testing matter most. A full backup of the data and configuration and a trial run in a test environment belong at the start. Custom adaptations, interfaces to neighbouring systems and print layouts should be checked against the new state. The switchover belongs in an agreed maintenance window, because the system is unavailable while it takes place.
