Amazon Corretto 17 at a glance
Amazon Corretto 17 is a free distribution of OpenJDK 17 that Amazon provides for Linux, Windows and macOS and as a container image. It is a common alternative to Oracle JDK for server applications, build environments and desktop programs that need a Java 17 runtime, and Amazon maintains it with long-term support.
Updates follow the quarterly rhythm of OpenJDK security updates, with occasional fix releases in between. Releases are published on GitHub and through package repositories for common distributions.
Since Corretto 17 is a separate release line, updates keep you on Java 17; moving to a newer LTS line is a project of its own. Restart applications after updating so they use the new runtime, and check custom truststores for changes to the bundled certificates.
